What is Beer Wise?

Beer Wise was created to help you understand beer.  And not just what’s in your glass, but as many aspects of that beer as possible: Why your retailer sells it, who brought it to them, what influenced the brewer to create that particular beer, how it was brewed, which ingredients went into it, who else makes that style and how it compares, which foods pair well with that particular style…the list goes on.  The craft beer world has exploded over the past few years, and now that it has established a lasting foothold it is important to separate fact from misconception, gain knowledge and experience at your own pace and to realize what you truly like about beer.  From the casual drinker to the franchise bar owner, expanding your grasp of the beer world is something that can be easily achieved!

Why do I think Beer Wise can help you?  I’ve spent many years in the service industry, mostly as a bartender and sometimes as a manager, which has helped me to understand the facets of the business.  I graduated from ABC Bartending School in Atlanta, GA in 2005 to expand my knowledge and hone my skills regarding cocktails.  I studied for years and became a Certified Cicerone, which has greatly expanded my knowledge of beer and beer practices.  I have also planned and executed dozens of beer dinners, both on my own and in partnership with local chefs.  This level of experience, along with no small level of humility, has taught me that there is a world of beer knowledge out there and it’s constantly changing!  Let Beer Wise help you understand and enjoy it!
